Smoke Detectors & Carbon Monoxide Alarms

With effect from 1st October 2015 new regulations (currently in draft form) will come into force which state that smoke detectors must be fitted to each storey within a property and that CO alarms must be fitted in any room that is used as living accommodation which contain what is described as a solid fuel burning combustion appliance. This includes open fires.

In addition from the 1st October all smoke detectors and CO alarms must be tested and in working order at start of any new tenancy. Failure to do so may result in a fine of up to £5000.

As this is a significant change in the law we at Busybee Lettings are currently undertaking a survey of all our managed properties to ensure full compliance.
